Research Profile

During his career, he generated 32 patents, published over 600 papers, cited > 58,000 times, and gave >650 talks in 54 countries. His Google Scholar H factor 122. He has been a reviewer for 118 journals and 48 agencies and is widely cited by the media.

An internationally renowned expert on probiotics, he helped developed novel probiotic therapies used by million people around the world, including via community ‘kitchens’ in Africa.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. He has received an Honorary Doctorate from Orebro University, Distinguished Alumni award from Massey University, a Canadian Society for Microbiologists Career Award, Western University’s highest accolade of Distinguished Professor and the prestigious Dr Rogers Prize for important contributions to Complementary and Alternative Medicine.

In September 2023 he published a book, “Probiotics: A story about hope” on amazon that reached number one on Amazon Hot New Releases.
